Adolescent IOP Program Features

Many intensive outpatient programs meet during the week, and then leave the newly sober individual to seek out their own meetings, sober social groups, and recovery resources. At the Insight Program, these critical features are built into the program itself. Our program includes:

Weekly 12-step meetings for teens

These meetings take place in the evenings, right at our facility, where teens get to develop a positive peer support network with peers they already know.

Full-Featured Parent Support Group

Teens living at home will undoubtedly face challenges related to their strained family relationships, and parents are often feel they are at wits’ end. Our weekly parent support group meeting aims to help parents as they work through these challenges.

Weekly Sober Social Events

Teens are extremely social, and without a way to have fun without drugs, their success rates in recovery are very low. The Insight Program’s IOP for adolescents specifically addresses this problem by offering weekly sober social events for adolescents every weekend.

Individual Counseling

At The Insight Program, we meet with each teen individually each week to discuss their progress, celebrate their successes, and discuss the challenges they are having. Each adolescent will come out of their session with specific goals for the week.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Roswell IOP for Teens

This intensive outpatient program for teens is a structured treatment option wherein the teen continues to live at home and attend weekly treatment sessions in an outpatient capacity. This is distinct from a partial hospitalization program (PHP), which involves more weekly hours of treatment groups. The benefit of intensive outpatient services over residential treatment options is that the adolescent gets to learn to manage the challenges of navigating their family relationships, peer relationships, and school schedules.

While residential treatment is an excellent option for those who need it, it doesn’t allow the teen to while still in the relative safety of the treatment environment.

Intensive outpatient is a good fit for adolescents who need a drug and alcohol treatment program to sober up, but don’t necessarily need the 24/7 supervision that an inpatient or residential treatment program would provide.

This depends on the level of the adolescent’s substance use disorder, and is something we address directly in all of our no-cost substance abuse evaluations.

Our Roswell adolescent IOP program serves teens aged 13-17 who live in Roswell, Alpharetta, Milton, John’s Creek, Sandy Springs, and surrounding areas. Additionally, we are a family-focused program and we ask that the parents of teens in our program attend the weekly Roswell parent support group meetings. This is especially important in the case of adolescents, since they will be living at home with their families.

The program lasts between 6-12 weeks, generally. Upon entry into the program, we will set out and agree upon various goals for the course of treatment with the teen and their family. Our discharges are based on progress, rather than time.

Our intensive outpatient program for adolescents addresses a wide range of substance use issues, including marijuana use, alcohol use, prescription drug misuse, and a variety of other illicit drugs. The program focuses on helping teens learn to find a way of life that is rewarding, without the use of substances.
