Adolescent IOP Program Features

It’s common for adolescent IOP programs to offer treatment sessions during the week, while leaving teens to seek out their own support groups and recovery resources. Teens tend to struggle with this element, so The Insight Program has built an entire long-term support system into our program. Our Charlotte program includes:

Weekly 12-step meetings for teens

Our facility offers twice-weekly substance abuse support groups for teens, allowing them to develop their support network around relationships with teens they already know.

Full-Featured Parent Support Group

Parents feel the strain of having a teen living in the home with a drug problem. Regardless of the scale of your young one’s substance use, our weekly parent support group meetings can help you learn to respond to these challenges in a healthy way, while developing a support network of your own.

Weekly Sober Social Events

Over the years, we’ve found it’s nearly impossible to expect a teen to stay sober without adequately helping them replace their drug use with something just as rewarding. To address this need, our adolescent IOP program has sober social events built right into the program.

Individual Counseling

During the treatment process, we meet with each teen individually to discuss their progress, celebrate success, and develop a plan to continue to grow in their new, sober life.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Charlotte IOP for Teens

An intensive outpatient program is a structured treatment option for substance use disorder, wherein teens continue to live at home with their families and attend treatment sessions each week.

The benefit of IOP for adolescents (as opposed to residential or partial hospitalization programs) is that young people get to navigate the specific challenges they will face day-to-day in real time as they grow. These include rebuilding trust with their family, navigating peer relationships, high school schedules, etc.

The Insight Program is roughly 2 miles north of the South Carolina state line, about 3 miles east of the sprawling Carowinds amusement park, and approximately 6 miles southwest of Charlotte’s uptown district.

This spot makes us accessible for families from Matthews, Pineville, Indian Trail, Concord, and the broader Charlotte metro area seeking our outpatient and intensive outpatient program (IOP) services.

Intensive outpatient is a good fit for teens who need a program to help recover from drug and alcohol use, but don’t specifically require the 24/7 supervision they would get in an inpatient / residential program.

This is evaluated on a case-by-case basis. If you’re wondering if IOP is a good fit for your family, please get in touch with us to set up a no-cost evaluation.

Our Charlotte adolescent IOP program serves teens aged 13-17 from Charlotte, Matthews, Pineville, Indian Trail, Concord, and surrounding areas.

As a family-focused program, we require parents of teens in our program to participate in the weekly Charlotte parent support group meetings. This is particularly important for adolescents, who continue living at home with their families during treatment.

The teen IOP program lasts roughly 6-12 weeks. Upon entry into the program, we complete an assessment and work with your teen to agree on various goals to be completed during the course of treatment. Discharges from IOP are based on progress, not time in the program.

Our program is designed for adolescents who have problems relating to mind-changing chemicals: marijuana use, alcohol use, prescription drug misuse, and any other illicit drug use. Our focus is on helping teens find a way of life that is more rewarding than drug use.
